After many years of dedicated service, Beat Santschi is taking his well-deserved retirement. As a former President and Secretary-General, he played a decisive role in shaping SMV-USDAM and championed the interests of musicians in Switzerland with great commitment. Issues particularly close to his heart included improving working conditions, strong advocacy, and dialogue with politicians, institutions and partner organisations. With his calm, approachable manner and wealth of experience, he has left a lasting mark on the association. We would like to thank Beat Santschi warmly for his many years of service and wish him all the best for this new chapter in his life.
At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Carlo Mathieu as the new Central Secretary. He brings with him many years of experience from trade unions, politics and non-profit organisations. In various leadership roles, he has managed organisations strategically and operationally, led negotiations, overseen campaigns and consistently championed fair working conditions. He combines his expertise in employment law, advocacy and organisational development with business management know-how and strong communication and networking skills.
In Carlo Mathieu, SMV-USDAM gains a committed, dialogue-oriented individual who will continue the successful work of Beat Santschi and provide fresh impetus for the association’s future. We extend a warm welcome to him and look forward to working with him.

Carlo Mathieu emphasises: ‘I look forward to working alongside SMV-USDAM members to champion fair working conditions and the interests of musicians in Switzerland.’
