Survey on the social security coverage of cultural workers

Due to the specifics of the cultural sector, cultural workers are often confronted with insufficient social security coverage. In order to develop solutions for closing these gaps in the social security system, reliable data on the current income and social security situation of cultural workers is a necessity. For this reason, Suisseculture Sociale and Pro Helvetia have commissioned the research and consultancy office Ecoplan AG to investigate the income situation and social security coverage of cultural workers and conduct a survey, to assertain the income and social security situation of cultural workers.

We are aware that the current income situation is mainly characterised by losses in connection with Covid measures. However, we ask participants in the survey to leave this aspect aside for the moment. In order to stabilise the income situation of cultural workers after the crisis on a sustainable level, it is necessary to assertain the income level before the crisis.

We are also aware that the income situation of freelancers is difficult to depict in the categories «self-employed» and «employed». The survey is not least intended to reflect this difficult situation of freelancers. Nevertheless, we ask you to complete the questionnaire to the best of your knowledge and belief.

Your participation in the survey is an important contribution to obtaining reliable data on the situation of cultural workers and, building on this, to developing solutions for closing gaps in the social security coverage for cultural workers in the long term.
